The Upland, which means Low German as much as Oberland or Hochland, is the northeastern, belonging to Hessen part of the otherwise Westphalian Hochsauerland.
Here lies Ettelsberg, at the north-eastern end of the Rothaargebirge. It is about 838 m high and is known for its Hochheide, the Hochheideturm and the Willinger ski area.
