The Theater of the Night was created in 1988 by the initiative of the artist couple Ruth Schmitz and Heiko Brockhausen. In the mid-1990s, the theater group, which was founded as a touring theater, discovered the former Northeim fire station and suggested to the city of Northeim that the building be converted into a puppet theater. Four years later, in May 1999, the reconstruction of the house began to the puppet theater. After about two years of rebuilding the theater of the night was opened with a ceremony in August 2001. The theater of the night gets its name because its actors "love night figures, dreamlike stories and wondrous figures". Fairy tales, myths and legends are the focus of her artistic work. Their ideas and stories for the stage draw them from the realm of the fantastic.

Great theater stories in a suitably unique, beautiful building - a very special theater experience
