At the large quarry at the Heldenmühle is the place where the Jagst begins to eat its way through the limestone plateau of the Hohenlohe plain. This is where the middle course begins, with numerous bends in the river, steep slopes and rock faces, ravine forests and narrow meadows. From the path leading past you have a brief glimpse into the thick layers of shell limestone.
