It was not until 1573 that the fresco was added at the request of the house owner.
If you look closely, you will discover a tiny frog added as a caricature of a snooty official in the 19th century.

The original mural was created by Melchior Bocksberger in 1573. Over the centuries, it has been restored several times, with each restoration bringing slight variations in the depiction. Interestingly, the name “Goliathhaus” is not derived directly from the biblical story. Rather, it is believed that the name goes back to the so-called “Goliards” - wandering theology students of the 12th century whose patron saint was called “Golias”. It is believed that the site of the current Goliathhaus was once their accommodation.

Today, the Goliathhaus houses various facilities, including a hotel and a restaurant on the upper floor, which offers guests culinary experiences in a historic setting.
