In 1812, at the time of the Napoleonic campaign, Lorenz Billigen killed a French corporal who had raped his wife Billigens. As a result, Billigen was sentenced to death, which a pastor from Dockweiler was able to prevent. Thereupon Billigen donated the cross out of gratitude.

This is where the French were supposed to execute Lorenz Billigen, a citizen of Dockweiler, in 1812. Through the interaction of the Dockweiler pastor, he was pardoned. Out of gratitude, he had a commemorative cross erected at this point.
There is a small shelter next to the cross. Nice view of Dockweiler from up there.
