Bike Touring Highlight
In Rotenburg an der Fulda there was already a watermill in the Middle Ages. Until the beginning of the 19th century, hydropower was used to operate the plant as a grinding mill, blue mill, barley mill, wood cutting mill and sawmill.
At the end of the 19th century, the conversion to a so-called art mill, ie the installation of turbines to generate electricity, as well as a further modernization of the mill, took place. After a big fire in the early 1920s, the reconstruction of the hydroelectric power station finally took place.
