On December 9th, 1903, the church building association decided on the plans of the architect Johann Adam Rüppel from Bonn. The architect Lenzen from Bedburg became the site manager. Rüppel laid out the foundations on May 19, 1904 on the church building site. The foundation stone was laid on May 14, 1905.

The Catholic parish church of St. Marien is located in the Eschweiler district of Röthgen in the North Rhine-Westphalian city region of Aachen. It is located on a small square on Mittelstrasse between Bourscheidtstrasse and Karlstrasse. It is a neo-Gothic brick basilica with a west portal, flying buttresses over the side aisles and two choir towers with a tent roof. In the interior, pillars support the ribbed vault.
