After his release from the Dachau concentration camp on April 6, 1945, Father Kentenich, the founder of the Schoenstatt Movement, arrived in Ennabeuren on April 17, 1945, via Munich, Freising, and Ulm, unbroken in body and soul. Father Kentenich actually wanted to go to Schoenstatt immediately, but external circumstances in the final weeks of the war made this impossible. He stayed in Ennabeuren for four weeks until May 18, 1945, witnessing the American occupation of the village and the end of the war.
