The episcopal city of Passau has always been a center of religious life for Bavaria and Austria. In 1611, Prince-Bishop Archduke Leopold of Austria brought a picture of the Blessed Mother to his royal residence with a tenderly embraced child. This was from Lucas Cranach d.
