Charlottenstraße Bicycle Street

In 2018, Charlottenstrasse (and a short section of Schulstrasse) in Reutlingen was converted into a bicycle road, which is also approved for motor vehicles and which unfortunately continues to be used as a thoroughfare through Oststadt. On the approx. The 1.2 km long section has priority, cycling side by side is allowed, cars must keep a minimum distance of 1.5 m when overtaking, the speed limit is 30. There is also a bike service station at the Planie intersection.

At first I was very skeptical about the usefulness of the bicycle road that runs parallel to the bicycle path on the old railway line. I now use the road regularly, as it is much easier to get around quickly here. The parallel cycle path is also used very heavily by pedestrians.

Unfortunately, the route suddenly ends in the center and you can then deal with the other traffic again. Let's see what happens when the railway line is to become active again. But that can take a while.
