The church was originally intended to be built from fieldstone. However, bricks were ultimately used for the construction. The interior of the late Romanesque church has a flat roof, an apse and a half-dome. To the west of the building there is a memorial to those who fell in both world wars.

The original building is a fieldstone building. The tower is a small, square roof tower on the western end of the nave's roof. The outsides are slated. It has a sound opening on the north, west and south sides. On the east side there is a small opening directly above the ridge of the nave's roof. The tower ends with a button, cross and two stars. A fieldstone church was built in the village in the 13th century, perhaps even in the second half of the 12th century, and was probably a parish church in 1459.
