From the built in the second half of the 12th century Kaiserburg Eger next to the Black Tower and part of the eastern castle walls, the Romanesque double chapel from the years 1179 to 1188 are preserved. From 1179, after the first stay of Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa in the imperial city of Eger (Cheb), the castle complex was expanded to become the Imperial Palace. An octagonal opening makes the connection between the floors. The upper floor has a ribbed vault over four polygonal columns. Many components are provided with sculptural jewelry. In front of the entrance to the Kaiserburg stands a statue of Staufer. It was unveiled on July 12, 2013, the 800th anniversary of Eger's bull of gold.

The castle was first mentioned in the 12th century. Towards the end of the 12th century, Friedrich Barbarossa had the original castle built into an imperial palace. 1652 was by Erlas Emperor Ferdinand III. the conversion of the Eger Castle into a border fortress, with it Eger received the status of a fortress town, which at that time only Prague was entitled to in the entire Kingdom of Bohemia.

Very beautiful castle complex, with very nicely preserved city walls.

There is also a very well-kept park below the castle.
