The mountain lake (natural lake) above Bad Säckingen invites visitors to take a walk or bike ride around the picturesque body of water. There's a restaurant serving food and the opportunity to ride a pedal boat. A climbing garden has also been set up at the lower end, offering great climbing fun for young and old. Various seating areas invite you to linger. The only drawback: in good weather, the countless parking spaces become scarce, which is, of course, due to the beauty of this 13-meter-deep natural lake.

Hiking
The Scheffelfelsen on the edge of the mountain lake near Bad Säckingen is reminiscent of the city's most famous son, the German poet and writer Joseph Victor von Scheffel (1826-1886). Only by bushels the name "mountain lake" came into use. Originally the mountain lake was a small pond in which monastic fish farming was practiced. His former name was "Schwarzsee".
