For me one of the most outstanding skyscrapers in London (but now also pretty built). The special design, designed by the "star architect" Norman Foster, earned the building the nickname "cucumber".

On the 10 April 1992 the Provisional IRA planted a bomb in St Mary Axe. It was the biggest bomb to explode on mainland Britain after WWII, killing three people, injuring 91 and heavlily damaging the Baltic Exchange building. Due to the damage plans to rebuild the exchange were discarded, instead this building, known as the Gherkin and designed by Sir Norman Foster, was built and opened in 2004.
