Tips

The Bodenbach Gorge is one of the wildest and most pristine gorges in the Swabian Forest. In the great canyon, with good footwear, you can descend via steps, narrow paths protected by railways and small bridges. The valley walls are steep, with prominent rocks and rocky ledges, from which blocks break off again and again and plunge into the gorge. The coniferous forest with many mosses and ferns comes very close to the original forest image before the beginning of human use and transformation. After about 700 m, the gorge becomes "tamer" and the dirt road meets a forest road. Around a ridge a path leads gently downhill to the neighboring gorge of Dentelbach.
