The "Seagull Fountain" by Dietrich Rohde with the stylized, abstract bronze seagull figures was originally set up in 1967 in the foyer of the Alfred Brehm House. In 2001 it was moved to the outdoor facilities at the seagull aviary and the "fountain basin" was redesigned as a circular field, covered with roughly smoothed, picturesquely piled chunks of natural stone.
