Inaugurated in memory of the victims of the two world wars with the help of donations from the people of Gettorf on the day of national mourning on November 18, 1956. The 5 meter high granite cross comes from the base of the old Kaiser Wilhelm monument at the Holtenauer lock. The 17 granite tablets with 164 carved names of the victims from the two world wars come from the towers of the old Levensau high bridge, which was dismantled between 1953 and 1954.
