Beersel Castle is a moated castle with a turbulent history and one of the few well-preserved examples of medieval military architecture in Flanders. It was part of Brussels' upstream defenses and was designed to protect the city from invading hordes.
Here you can immerse yourself in the history of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance and early modern times, because the castle is still there as it was at the end of the 15th century.

Beersel Castle is a medieval water castle dating from 1300 under the auspices of the Duchy of Brabant. The current design of the castle dates from 1357. The castle was plundered twice and underwent significant restorations in 1491 and 1617. It is one of the few well-preserved examples of medieval military architecture in Belgium. The castle was built around 1420 and functioned as an advanced fortress to defend Brussels. The castle is also mentioned in the album 'The Treasure of Beersel' by Suske and Wiske.
