A sleeping pill factory of the Bayer company used to stand here, which was built here at the end of the 19th century. In April 1904 the factory fell victim to a fire caused by a short circuit. Since the Bayer company had meanwhile expanded its main location in Leverkusen, the factory was not expanded again. There were also many complaints from residents in the area at the time, as the factory is said to have given off a terrible stench.

Hardly anything of the factory can be seen here, except for a few remains of a wall and an old washing tub that stands on four rusty legs. But the forest is certainly much more beautiful without a factory. a pretty little stream. The place is not far (300 meters) away from the federal highway 191, but you can hardly hear the noise from the busy road here, so I like to take a break here when I come by bike (I often cycle from Dannenberg to Hanover and back).
In the forest there is also a meadow on which there are a few brightly painted tin barrels stacked on top of each other, which is supposed to be considered art, even if I personally can't do that much with it.
