Between the towns of Renda and Ulfen, the dry valley Rendagraben stretches in a south-westerly direction, a geologically remarkable karst phenomenon that is unique in North and East Hesse. Depending on the amount of rainwater, the stream flowing through Renda disappears in one or more dwindling streams, only to reappear up to 3 kilometers away on the outskirts of Ulfen in various karst springs, the so-called Wichtellochen.

If you want to find water at this spring, you should come here during rainy times. This spring only supplies water after heavy or heavy rainfall.
Otherwise it is dry, as is the stream bed of the Rendatalgraben.
