The very first mention of the Buulmolen dates back to 1362. In the night of July 11, 1744, the mill burned down, but it was rebuilt in the autumn and winter. In 1938, the mill had to make way for the construction of the Albert Canal. Completely dismantled, it was transferred to Noordkasteel in Antwerp, where it remained until 1986. In the end it was torn down and left to its own devices. In 1994, the city of Antwerp was prepared to return the mill. After renovation, the Buulmolen was returned to its place in Olen in 2003.

Hiking

In 1850, presumably to resign from joint ownership after the death of Marquis Henri de Merode, the Buulmolen was sold to tenant-miller Henri De Ceuster. The windmill remained in the possession of the De Ceuster family until its expropriation for the construction of the Albert Canal in 1936.
