40 meters high, the 24-meter high observation tower rises above the Bosbergen. It was built on the occasion of the world exhibition in 1958 to put the city of Herentals in the spotlight with its unadapted environment. Today for our grandchildren it is still an experience to climb the 112 steps. In 1980 the tower was struck by lightning and was closed for 3 years. Since 1985, many tourists can do justice to the Tourist Tower.

The Tourist Tower has stood at the highest point of Herentals for more than half a century. The current tower was opened in May 1985. The construction has 112 wooden steps that lead you to a height of 22 meters. At the end of the climb you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
On the top floor is an orientation table on which you can read the direction and distance to more than a hundred church towers. Some claim that in clear weather you can even see the spheres of the Atomium glitter. Even more impressive than the view is the deafening silence that overtakes you once you rise above the tops of the trees. Be sure to take the time not to listen to anything.
