In May 2020 this church was named "Church of the Month. On the Internet at n-tv.de you can find out the following:

"Ballhausen / Hanover (dpa / th) - The village church of St. Agidii in Ballhausen (Unstrut-Hainich district) has been named" Church of the Month May 2020 "by the Foundation for the Preservation of Church Monuments in Germany. The foundation supports the renovation The institution founded by the Evangelical Church in Germany announced on Monday that the historic church building was "important far beyond the borders of Thuringia" because of the art objects it houses, said church building consultant Karin Wollenhaupt of the church tower.
According to the foundation, the origins of the previous church go back to the 13th century. The baroque pulpit altar, the winged retable and stone epitaphs from the 16th century are worth seeing. Reference was also made to a relief in the outer wall of the church tower that shows the crucifixion scene and is dated to 1496. "

It's great, what kind of jewelry is here.

St. Aegidii was built around 1500 from square natural stone. In the vaulted ground floor of the tower, an arched wall opening in the tower wall suggests structural remains of a previous medieval building. In the 18th century the church was rebuilt in Baroque style. A pulpit altar, a two-storey horseshoe gallery on which an organ stands and a patronage box with a separate entrance result in a simple, harmonious furnishings (stiftung-kiba.de/gefoerderte_kirchen.php?id=155).
