A very large, well-preserved ruin. Everything is well signposted, making it very educational. The many walls, caves, and staircases are a great attraction, not just for children. The tour is free.

High above the city of Homburg rises on the Schlossberg (324 m), the ruins of the former hill fort and seat of the Counts of Homburg in the 12th century. After the death of the last count castle and city fell in 1449 to the counts of Nassau-Zweibrücken.
Over the last three decades, the ruins have been uncovered and restored.
Also worth seeing are the Schlossberghöhlen below, the largest red sandstone caves in Europe.
