The Forstmeister Canal feeds the large castle pond with water

      November 5, 2017

The approximately 2,000 meter long forest master canal represents the main inflow for the large castle pond. This strictly geometrical element is somewhat in contradiction to the ideas of the landscape garden. However, this circumstance once again lends the design of the park a recognized uniqueness. At the cascade bridge, the water now "falls" over the large cascade to the level of the castle pond.

Cascade BridgeNext to the small rock cascade at the Gothic Bridge and the large rock cascade at the Fischerdörfl Bridge, this cascade is one of the masterpieces in the landscape of the park. It still reflects the Baroque era when the power of the water was architecturally captured. The two wing walls with the two spangles and the adjacent harbor basin probably date from the late 18th century and separate two worlds of garden conception; between imposing geometry and lovely pond landscape.
