The name “Vor der Wartefichte” is documented as a historical field name of the municipality of Herlefeld (lagis-hessen.de/de/subjects/idrec/sn/fln/id/634024040/tbl/belegort). What is meant is an elevated place from which the surroundings can be clearly seen, i.e. an observation point. In some places control rooms were even equipped with a tower. Today we encounter the word "Wait" z. B. still in the term "observatory" or "bird observatory". The mighty waiting spruce at the fork in the road unfortunately no longer makes a healthy impression.
