The Hetlinger Schanze, formerly a bulwark against the Swedes from the 17th century, is today a destination, a unique natural landscape and a widely visible location of the highest electricity pylons in Europe.
The Hetlinger Schanze is a historical place. In the 17th century, a field hill with 4 bulwarks was built there on behalf of the Danish King Christian the V. Over the years the ski jump was expanded due to its favorable location on a narrow Elbe until it lost its importance in the 18th century.Nowadays, the Hetlinger Schanze is more a well-known excursion destination - the Hetlinger Strand in particular is very popular. The location in the middle of the Haseldorfer Inner Elbe nature reserve with Elbe foreland characterizes the impressive landscape full of freshwater creeks, willow tunnels and rare plants like the Elbe - Schmiele. You can't miss the Hetlinger Schanze under any circumstances, as it is also the location of the highest electricity pylon in Europe. In order to guarantee the passage height of 75 m at the Elbe, the masts of the Elbe crossing 1 and 2 are 189 m or 227 m high - really impressive!holstein-tourismus.de/de/unsere-region/detailansicht/detail/hetlinger-schanze.html
