Hiking

The Tichelgaten is a nature reserve of recent date. The brick factory dug clay in the early 1950s to be able to bake bricks (tiles). Nowadays it is a beautiful nature reserve that is visited by the hawk, the osprey, the kingfisher, the spoonbill and sometimes the white-tailed eagle (end of summer, early autumn).

Clay was extracted from the brick holes to make bricks. The brick factory itself is located in a rest area and is unfortunately not accessible.

Tip: the brick factory at Fortmond further upstream towards Deventer is still accessible.
