On the east side of the lake you can park for free. On the west side it costs 4 € per day.

At 2200m a highlight for a winter hike and walk on the frozen lake. Stop off at the "Platzl am See" for a breather

Once around, that's not difficult. A real walk on the nature trail without climbs but with a view. At the Biathlon Stadium, cars are chargeable, but at the bottom of the lake they are free. If you need a few extra meters and a hut stop, you can take path 7b (Almenweg) to Steinzger Alm (1894 m). Biathlon Stadium is of course obligatory. Even in the summer there are always some athletes drifting around for training. Maybe you are lucky ...

Although it is an absolute hotspot with many visitors and expensive parking, it is worth visiting the fantastic lake. It is best to jump in directly and enjoy the cool.

In the morning, the rush of visitors is not that big and there are also parking spaces on the east side near the sunbathing area.

The Antholzer See, also called Untersee (Italian Lago di Anterselva), is a mountain lake at the end of the Antholz Valley in the Italian province of South Tyrol, near the border with Austria on the Staller Sattel. It is under protection in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park. The lake belongs to the municipality of Rasen-Antholz, is 1642 meters above sea level, has a maximum depth of 38 meters and covers an area of 44 hectares. The lake can be circled in about an hour's hike - mostly leading through forest. On the circular route, which is set up as a nature experience path, you receive a lot of information about the local flora and fauna, which is presented on display boards or in a playful way along the way.Next to the lake is the Südtirol Arena biathlon stadium, for which Antholz is known throughout Europe. Five biathlon world championships have already been held here, the last time the biathlon world championships in 2007. In addition, biathlon world cup races are held annually around Lake Anterselva. The routes are at around 1,600 m, making them the highest in the Biathlon World Cup.

Wonderful lake with crystal clear water. Despite the low water temperature, I couldn't resist a short bath at the end of September.
