The origin of the cemetery goes back to at least 1600. Today there are 921 tombstones left. The oldest tombstone is from 1695, the last burial took place in 1938.
The Külsheimer Friedhof served as an association cemetery for the Jewish communities Külsheim, Gissigheim, Königheim, Tauberbischofsheim, Hochhausen and Hardheim. In 1875 the cemetery was closed for use by the Jewish communities outside of Germany due to a lack of space. These had to create their own cemeteries.
