Village of the old Laonnois, built in a solid plain, on the edge of the Souche, at 4k. north of Laon, formerly of the stewardship of Soissons, the bailiwick, the election and the diocese of Laon, today the canton and district of this city, the diocese of Soissons.
According to an old tradition, a Flemish nun, returning from the Holy Land in the 12th century, stopped in Chambry and had a small monastery built there for brothers from Nazareth, which was later destroyed during the English Wars. The current church of Chambry is said to be the former chapel of the monastery.
Hence, there is confusion about the age. One source refers to the 13th century, the other to the 18th century.
