As soon as you cycle towards Bocairent, you are presented with an impressive sight. The old town with its branched streets nestles high up on a rocky ridge. Once there, you can push your bike a little while strolling through the alleys, admiring the church and eating delicious food.

Incidentally, the old town was created under Muslim rule, it was only conquered by Spanish troops around 1245 and then became part of the Kingdom of Valencia.

A very beautiful place, like something out of a medieval film set! A picturesque town nestled in the mountains of the Sierra de Mariola, characterized by its well-preserved medieval architecture, winding streets and spectacular views. The origins of Bocairent date back to prehistoric times, as archaeological finds in the area show. During the Moorish rule (8th-13th centuries), Bocairent developed into an important settlement. The Arabs had a strong influence on the townscape. Narrow, winding streets and the terraced landscapes are evidence of this period.

The most famous historical feature of Bocairent are the so-called “Covetes dels Moros” - caves of the Moors. These artificial caves, which are high in a rock face, were probably used as granaries or shelters in the Middle Ages. Their purpose and origin are still not fully understood today, which makes them even more fascinating.

Very impressive! It is worth exploring the town!

One of the Magical Towns of Spain and one of the most picturesque in the Valencian Community. It is worth visiting at any time of the year and walk through its network of streets as well as the various places of interest that it offers such as the Covetes dels Moros, the hermitage of Santo Cristo and the path to it. And you can't stop trying its gastronomy and drinking its typical herberet.
