If you want to enjoy the view of Denmark's largest river delta, the lookout tower at the mouth of Skjern Å is the place to go. The tower is at the end of a 3-kilometer walk from Pump Station North.
From the tower you can look out over the delta and Ringkøbing Fjord and observe the area's diverse bird life.Because towers always appeal to me, the observation tower at Skjern Å was of course also a goal for us today. Unfortunately, the last section of the route leads through a nature reserve where dogs are not allowed. So Marlies and Mäxchen waited patiently for me at the rest area. The last section is a bumpy "meadow path" that I can't really recommend for a trekking bike. Even with suspension you will be shaken up properly. It doesn't bother me, but more sensitive cyclists should leave their bikes and hike the rest of the way, or "reach" for the MTB.
The meadow path turns into a single trail at the end, which is easier to drive, but overgrown with more than waist-high grass. But even there it is easy to get through and you will be rewarded with great views from the lookout tower. The ascent is via steep stairs/ladders. At the tower there is a rest area with a table and two benches. The beach with slightly darker fine sand is not far away either. If you like some adventure and solitude, this is the right place.naturstyrelsen.dk/naturerlebnisse/natur-guide/skjern-aadal/arnswuerdigkeit/#udsigtstaarnet
