This is where the heart of the historic Hanseatic city beats. Since the 12th century, merchants and traders have been building permanent houses in this area adjacent to the Domburg and selling their goods under the arcades. The ensemble of 48 arched houses with their Gothic or Renaissance gables was largely destroyed in World War II, the reconstruction took up the old forms again, partly true to the original, partly in a simplified, modern stylization. Today, a large part of city life takes place here: state guests are received, parties are celebrated, people stroll, shop and enjoy life here.

Münster's Prinzipalmarkt is a piece of living city history. He tells of the Middle Ages, the Hanseatic League and the old merchant families, who still partly do business there. The square with the characteristic gabled houses and arcades is the traditional economic and political center of Münster.

Here is the historic town hall with its peace hall. Numerous exclusive shops and catering establishments also have their address here.
