The castle was built around 1200 by the Lords of Waldenstein, presumably the Hohenstaufen Reichsiale. Documented for the first time, these - now already in Württemberg service - 1251 (last mention 1349). 1442 pledged the Württemberger, who established the office Rudersberg in the 15th century from the places belonging to the rule, the castle or they gave after 1456 to noble and middle-class families to fiefs. 1535, the plant was called dilapidated; an old and new castle are called in 1650. 1792 bought the community Rudersberg the castle with the associated estate. In 1819 a fire partially destroyed the buildings.

Good view, hotel and business. Small place on a steep mountainside. Good to test yourself how fit you are.

Good views, and a good opportunity to rest and have something to eat, before it goes again steeply mountain-high (about 17%), direction Observatory, Welzheim.
