Recommended by 104 out of 112 mountain bikers
Location: Nago-Torbole, Trentino, Italy
Topography:
The Monte Altissimo di Nago is the highest peak in the northern part of the elongated Monte Baldo ridge, which extends roughly from north to south. Other important peaks in this chain are Punta Telegrafo in the south and Cima delle Pozzette in the north. From the chain further south, the Altissimo di Nago is separated by the pass Bocca di Navene (1,420 m). The subgroups of the Altissimo also include the peaks Corna Piana (1736 m), Monte Campo (1667 m) and Monte Varagna (1778 m). From Monte Varagna, the mountain drops over an elongated ridge to Nago-Torbole. There is still the climbing area of the side summit Segrom.
alpinism:
On the summit of the Altissimo di Nago is the managed Rifugio Altissimo Damiano Chiesa. The easiest way to reach the summit is to take the gravel road from the Provinciale del Monte Baldo road from the south, which is also popular with mountain bikers. Alternatively, the Path of Peace Sentiero della Pace (601) or the Alta Via del Monte Baldo offer as a mountain hike.
History:
At the summit there are, next to the Rifugio Altissimo Damiano Chiesa, trenches from the First World War, as well as a chapel and a memorial to its victims.
