The fountain with the Moriken dancer in front of the castle is reminiscent of the most famous son of Schmidmühlen, Erasmus Grasser (around 1450). Originally built as a moated castle, the castle was given its present appearance around 1600. With its Renaissance frescoes that show virtues and monthly depictions, the Knights' Hall harbors a special feature of art history. Baroque stucco ceilings by Phillip Jakob Schmuzer, who also worked in the Ensdorf monastery church, can be seen on two floors. The castle has served the Schmidmühlen market as a representative town hall since the post-war period.
Tip for e-bikers: There is a charging station in front of the castle.
