A spacious hiking car park with a possibility to rest. This is where the "trail of stones" begins on the Heimbergsweg.

After many years of success in renaturation, the tourism potential of the unique, bizarre rocky landscape was also discovered. An approximately seven-kilometer circular trail called "Trail of Stones" was opened in June 2016. It runs completely around the former diabase quarry in Wolfshagen and is also part of the UNESCO Geopark "Harz-Braunschweiger Land-Ostfalen". Numerous informative stations along the way as well as two attractive vantage points await hikers along the way.

The area immediately in front of the edge was densely planted with native wood. Furthermore, it is continuously secured by means of a fence. You should by no means try to overcome this obstacle. The terrain drops abruptly and almost vertically several tens of meters.

The first section of the circular route between the parking lot at the sports field and the "Stein und Natur" vantage point is largely barrier-free. However, there are several challenging uphill and downhill stretches to overcome on this stretch of the route.

A large part of the circular hiking trail presents itself as a narrow and uneven forest path with countless ascents and descents. Short stretches are also designed as stairs. At the various stations there are informative information boards on the history of the quarry, its renaturation and today's life in the protected area. You should plan about two hours for the circular hike including breaks.

Yes, it's nice - but every information board has to be a highlight. On the 3 km around the quarry there are around 10 highlights....
The "Trail of Stones" is already included as a highlight.
