The Pestruper cemetery is grazed in spring and autumn with Diepholzer Moor snails to prevent the lignification of the heathland. The herd consists of 120 animals.
At the end of the grazing in the spring, at the end of May, the moor snails are shorn. The Schur is accompanied by a small folk festival, information booths and botanical tours, in the Pestruper burial ground.
At summery 28 degrees, the animals will have been glad that you were sheared the wool today.
