Italian barracks built in the second half of the 19th century as a border garrison and military surveillance point over the Altopiano basin and the Assa Valley, thanks to its dominant position. More of a castle than a fort, its architecture is of late medieval design, entirely made of stone, complete with a moat: a far cry from the modern concrete fortifications built starting in the early 20th century in preparation for World War I. However, it was partially modernized and used at the outbreak of war.

Looking at it now, it appears to be an unfinished work, but its name has nothing to do with that: it is located on Monte Interrotto (an Italianization of the original Cimbrian name 'Hinterrucks', meaning 'mountain to the north').

After the Great War, it was further damaged after the Second World War when the army used it as a target for artillery practice!

Quiet walk with great views to the top. Not particularly demanding but all uphill. After the fort you can continue along other paths

You can also arrive by car, but it is advisable to take a quiet and satisfying walk starting from the square of Camporovere, or even climbing a few hairpin bends along the road and parking at the edge of the forest.

From Camporovere (on the road that leads from the Italian crossroads to Roana or from the center of Asiago towards the Vezzena) follow the road that branches off near the church (on the right) and quickly leads to the meadows behind, from which you can enjoy a wide and fascinating glimpse of the Asiago plain.
The fort rises just below the top of Mount Interrotto (hence the name) at an altitude of 1400 meters.

From the fort the road continues (no cars) in the dense and beautiful fir forest and leads to the cemetery of Mósciagh, of the First World War.

The fortified defensive barracks on Mount Interrotto, built in the mid-19th century, is a typical construction of a medieval concept.
In fact it looks more like a castle than a fort, and it was certainly not designed to withstand the blows of the giant howitzers deployed during World War I. Recently (2011) the former fortress has been partially restored rebuilt, allowing a visit that more correctly restores the nineteenth-century construction concepts and the function of barracks-observatory.
