The place, formerly written Schöngros, belonged to the Rothenburg Hospital until 1838 and was then privately owned from Weikersheim.
In 1399 Hans von Schöngros and Catharine, his married landlady, handed over their share of Schöngros to the Rothenburg Hospital for Leibgeding.
The former manor house shows that it was a rich farm.
