What to see:
Traces of the Hümmling village of Wahn, which was built over 1000 years ago. On April 1, 1941, the community was officially dissolved. The National Socialists wanted to expand the Kruppchen's shooting range, so Wahn was razed to the ground. 1007 inhabitants had to leave their homes and start afresh. Three homeland associations and many citizens want to uncover the village and set up a 1.8 kilometer circular route. Roads, remains of some farmsteads and the foundations of St. Anthony's Church are already recognizable.

Why it pays:
If you visit the village site and walk under mighty oak trees over the old cobblestones, you will walk on historic ground. Text panels, pictures and a model give information about the former flourishing village and its people. "The walls have been leveled, but delusion lives as long as Wahner live," says a bronze plaque. In June every year, a meeting of the Old Wahner with a worship and grave blessing takes place. Old-delusion is a "monument".Opening hours:

In the middle of today's nature reserve and test area of the Bundeswehr, the village "Wahn" was relocated at the beginning of the Second World War to create this test area. Many of the old farmsteads are marked and the origin and whereabouts of the respective families are described. A journey of calm and reflection.
