I managed it on my 25mm tyres, but it would be much better on a gravel bike or MTB. Great to combine with the road down from Tipput's Inn and the short steep climb up into Horsley, then take the steep climb up through Downend, towards Shortwood. The turning is on the left, halfway down the decent to Shortwood at a righthand bend and the track is accessed through a gate (signposted Lower Lutheridge - Restricted Byway).

A great byway which is tarmac up to the farm at the Shortwood end and a solid gravel track thereafter. Great as a steady climb to soak in the views or fun as a descemt.
