The High Court at Lechlumer Holz served as the main place of execution for the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel from the 16th century until mid-1759.
The facility is located on a hilltop (Galgenberg) above the Oker on the northwestern edge of Lechlumer Holz, a forest on the old military road that ran from Wolfenbüttel via Stöckheim and Melverode to Braunschweig.
The remains of the execution site can still be seen today.(Source: Wikipedia)
