Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
Unfortunately, this great bike path is currently. in a renovation phase, and should not be asphalted again, on request from Niedersächsische Frosten, Ankum. Pity !
Can no longer be ridden on a racing bike. With touring bikes and MTBs, riding is only recommended in dry weather !!!!

The wonderful bike tours over the Waldchaussee are history.
In autumn 2021, the asphalt black cover was removed and replaced with a gravel cover. Cycling is now difficult. Due to the newly created ruts in the forest vehicles, cycling is now life-threatening for children. At the end of the journey you look like a pig. The street is also no longer usable for walkers with walkers and wheelchair users.
Cycle superhighways are being laid out all over Germany, only in Bad Iburg is an existing de facto cycle superhighway being destroyed.
I currently advise against using the Waldchaussee.

The Waldchaussee between Iburg and Hilter is very scenic and well paved. I like it best from Hilter to Iburg, because then you have a great gradient and get a rush of speed. On the Iburg side is a water treading basin with a resting place.

... I mourn the Waldchaussee !! I have known the paved path for half a century as "Chaussee", it could even be that I learned to walk there, but the path is no longer worthy of the name, if anything, it is still a gravel road that even mountain bikers avoid.

But watch out, the guys on the racing bikes are sometimes much too fast on confusing sections.
2022: The great asphalt has now been converted into a gravel path.
Anyone who is responsible for this should be kicked out!

The Waldchaussee from Bad Iburg to Hilter leads through the Freeden. It is a beautiful, well-developed road that is only approved for cyclists and hikers.
The route offers a varied route through the forest with up and downs. It shows a different face in every season.
