Here is the German pilot pilots Franz Scharler thought.
The pilot of a German interceptor fell here, literally from the sky, during an air battle with American bomber formations, which ended fatally.
The whole story is easy to read in the text on the accompanying panel.

The shock of this calamity must have been very great - otherwise the condition of the memorial site can not be explained.
This place is not a "heroic heroic memorial", but a contemporary historical testimony, which a few people take care of very touching.
We should remember gratefully the peace we are allowed to live in - and commemorate those who gave their lives, no matter where or how.
