Palazzuolo sul Senio became part of the Florentine Republic. With the nearby Firenzuola, it formed the nucleus of Tuscan Romagna. Since then, Palazzuolo followed the fate of the Republic of Florence and was enfeoffed to the Florentine Strigelli family.
