The bunker museum consists of two bunkers that are close to each other and are part of the Atlantic Wall, which was built between 1942 and 1944 along the Norwegian coast up to the French-Spanish border. Thousands of bunkers and barriers were built to prevent an Allied invasion from the coast.

The museum is open from May to November, every Wednesday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free and visitors enter the bunker at their own risk.

The bunker museum consists of 2 different bunkers, which are close to each other. The two bunkers are part of the Atlantic Wall, which was built between 1942 and 1944 along the Norwegian coast to the French-Spanish border. The construction of thousands of bunkers and barriers prevented the Allied invasion of the coast. In Zeeland especially Walcheren (Vlissingen) and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Breskens) were strongly attached, because of their strategic positions in the mouths of the Weserschelde: access to the port of Antwerp.

The lower bunker is a double group shelter of the type R 502.
The bunker was designed to accommodate 2 groups.
The bunker is 14.8m long and 9.5m wide. The height is 5.1m. The inside dimensions are significantly lower, as this bunker type consists of 2m thick walls and ceiling for protection against fire. Even the inner walls are still 80cm thick. A total of approx. 630m2 concrete and 40t reinforcing steel are installed here.

The museum is open every Wednesday and Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00 from May to November. Admission is free and entering from the bunker is at your own risk.

The bunker museum consists of two former bunkers of the Altlantikwalls, which stand close to each other in the dunes near Zoutelande.
These were preserved as contemporary witnesses and remind of the horrors of the 2 weather warfare and the liberation of Walcheren in November 1944.

              The story should be remembered.
