    Selakano is mainly covered by pine trees, which are among the drought tolerant species of Pinus brutia. Pinus brutia is a species that can withstand six months of drought and grow in various rocks and soils. There are also kerme oaks, plane trees, Cretan maples, cypresses and several other plant species.

    The visitor to Selakano is immediately captivated by the wild beauty of the landscape. Magnificent gorges (the magnificent Sarakina Gorge in Myrtos is well worth a visit), gurgling springs of water and steep slopes where there are birds of prey such as falcons and golden eagles. In the basin where the settlements of Selakano and Mathokastana are located, there are many walnut and pear trees, vineyards and rock fields where vegetables are grown.
