In 1851 the Godchaux cloth factory was the first in Luxembourg City to use a steam process.
Business went so well that they opened a branch in Ettelbruck. In addition, a new production facility was opened in La-Riche-sur-Chiers in France in 1884 in order to boost business in France as well.
The company employed up to 2,000 workers, around 800 in the grinding mill.
Due to the First World War, they had to stop production in 1939. More on wanderninluxemburg.lu
